2009 Venue Announced Reads 39
SAS WC Sailing Championships
Many of you will be aware of the discussion on the Venue for these Championships which first arose at the Commodores and Class Chairman’s Meeting some time ago. Going by the previously agreed rotation it was the turn of TSC to host this event but they clearly stated that they were only happy to do this at their home Club and if it was the decision to go to Saldanha Bay, then they suggested it be taken over by SAS WC.

2008: Good racing on final day brings 2008 WC Champs to a close Reads 470
The final day of the regatta saw the competitors sailing in a building breeze that provided excellent close racing!
The race committee did an excellent job of keeping the fleets on the water and racing keeping the wait between races to a minimum. Teh first race was started on time with the course laid ready and waiting with a postponement of only 10 minutes on the Sunday and Monday due to the wind not filling in fully. All in all it was an excellent regatta well organized with good entertainment and even better racing.

2008: Day 3 Brings Milder Winds and Good Racing Reads 464
The day dawned with a light breeze that filled in only delaying the start of the days racing by 10 min.
Di Hutton-Squire and her race committee had the course prepped and ready and at the last minute decided to postpone the first start (delayed for the easter proceedings to 11 am) by 10 minutes which enabled some of the more sluggish and sleeper competitors to make the first start.

2008: Day 2 brings stronger winds for competitors Reads 470
Competitors awoke this morning to a blustery wind gusting to 22 knots that was expected to build during the day. The noticeboard indicated that the race officer intended to start four back to back races. However conditions only allowed two to be sailed, and then the postponement and "A" flag was raised.

Racing got underway on time and a good course was set by race officer Di Hutton-Squire. The O fleet and 505's were first off and the casualties soon occurred with capsizes aplenty. This set the pattern for the rest of the fleets as competitors battled in the conditions. Off the water feelings were mixed with some talking of blistering fast down wind legs and others of multiple capsizes and gear failure.
